Welcome
to Girl Scout Camp!
To start, THANK YOU for volunteering! Camp would not be possible without our adult volunteers and that includes you! You'll find the basics of what it means to be a volunteer and other helpful information below. Start the countdown for camp!
Duties & Responsibilities
As the unit leaders, you help navigate the campers to their scheduled activities during the day. Ensure everyone is drinking enough water and pass out snack. If someone is injured and requires first aid, find a Day Camp volunteer! We can direct to a first aid fanny pack or call for the nurse. Leaders will take attendance at AM flag every morning and ensure all the campers get on the bus or picked up at PM flag. Adults will also be responsible for cleaning up their shade fly and appropriately disposing of trash and recycling at the end of each day.
Schedules and Free Time
Activities are planned each day and there will be some free time scheduled in. Below is an example of a unit schedule. During free time, campers can decorate their unit flag, eat snack, take a hike to explore camp, complete Do-It boxes, lacing, or practice singing camp songs! Units can also visit our Trading Post, which sells bracelets, stuffed animals, extra camp shirts, and many more items.
Cooking Days
Cooking days can be stressful. See the "Cooking Day Cheat Sheet" for helpful tips. We will deliver food to your unit shade fly that day. Get your fire started early and remember fire safety (tie hair back, remove loose clothing and name tags, have an adult around the fire at all times, etc.). We will have people helping to start fires!
Volunteer Meeting
There is a meeting for all adult volunteers and unit leaders on Sunday, August 4th at 2 pm. It will be held in Northstar. We will discuss what to expect, tips for the week, and a walk through of camp. Everyone is highly encourage to come!
